Joel’s time will come – Dunn

TALENTED young goalkeeper Joel Coleman will be back firing on all cylinders for Athletic soon says boss David Dunn.

The interim manager has given the 20-year-old prospect a break since taking over from Darren Kelly.

Home-grown product Coleman burst on the scene late last season in his senior debut against MK Dons.

He began this season as Kelly’s first choice, but the 5-1 home hammering by Peterborough prompted Dunn to hand the gloves to more experienced Welsh goalkeeper David Cornell.

Dunn explained: “Joel’s a fantastic young player and he’s really well thought of here. Sometimes, though, confidence plays a huge part and that seemed to be lacking a little, so I’ve given him a rest.

“We all know Joel is a big talent and he’ll be back soon enough. He is a huge asset and we need to protect that asset.”

Dunn is delighted to have a pair of exceptional keepers at his disposal as he gears up for a tough October schedule. The Athletic boss added: “We’ve probably got the best two goalkeepers in the division.”
