ATHLETIC 1, PETERBOROUGH 5
ATHLETIC succumbed to a home hammering to leave manager Darren Kelly's job hanging by a thread.
The damage was done in an awful first half in which Peterborough scored twice through debutant Lee Angol and Erhun Oztumer.
Rhys Murphy pulled a goal back shortly after half-time with a very smart left-footed finish from the edge of the penalty area.
But Athletic's defence looked vulnerable throughout and Souleymane Coulibaly netted twice and Angol once more to confirm the visitors' superiority.
Angol's opener came on 14 minutes from close range and the second was seven minutes before half-time, when Oztumer struck into the top corner from a cut-back.
Murphy's neat finish gave some hope to the home side three minutes after half-time.
But it was extinguished when Coulibaly got in behind to slide home on 62 minutes, adding a close range header four minutes later.
Angol added a fifth with a neat finish from on the penalty spot.
