Posh will be threat with shackles off

EXPERIENCE tells me that we could be up against a very dangerous side tomorrow.

Peterborough are 20th in the table and without a permanent manager after Dave Robertson was sacked this week. I’ve been in situations before where managers have been given the sack.

When I was at Norwich, Bryan Gunn took over as a caretaker and, after a terrible run of previous form we won 4-0 in the next game.

It can have that sort of effect on a team. I don’t know exactly why, but it could turn out to be a dangerous thing and Posh could fly at us with the shackles off. You need to be a little cautious of it, as those ridiculous results can come from nowhere.

At the same time, we need to play better than we did against Bradford. I was in the stand watching that one, frustrated I couldn’t be on the pitch. Sitting it out was for the best, though, as I was mindful of the problem I’m carrying.

Initially I thought it was a hamstring concern, but our physio Craig Schofield told me it was actually a neural issue. I went for a scan to be sure of the damage and the results came back that there was no tear.

It’s a case of managing it and getting through games. I have had it for a few weeks now — going back to the Shrewsbury game. After that night game in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy it got worse, so I rested it. I am back in training and while it is still sore, once fully warmed up it is manageable.

It is obviously not ideal, but it will go in time. Armed with the scan results, I know I can play through it and won’t do any more damage.

Being based in Manchester again means being close to family and friends, and after training you get to see friends and parents. It also means I always have loads of people watching games: they don’t have to travel a million miles.

Hopefully, we can put on a good show against Peterborough. The supporters deserve to see that and so far we have been at our best away from home.

There is a really good team spirit here and we want to put things right.
