DAVID Worrall has left nobody in doubt over his desire to return to Boundary Park next season.

Shut out of the first-team picture at Rotherham, the busy on-loan midfielder has built up both his fitness and reputation under Lee Johnson.

As it stands, the 23 year old from Manchester is soon set to return to the New York Stadium ahead of the Millers’ play-off campaign. His involvement in that is doubtful and it remains to be seen if a permanent move to Athletic can be negotiated.

“I would love to stay here and the staff, the gaffer and the lads know that,” said Worrall, who scored on his full debut for Athletic in the 5-4 home defeat of Peterborough.

“I think it would be a good move for me, to get the games I was missing at the start of the season.

“I have loved the way I have been treated. But it is not in my hands.”

With Worrall producing some increasingly consistent performances on the right side of midfield, his short-term goal is simply to keep Athletic’s run going until the end of the current campaign.

“We are unbeaten in seven now and of the 15 games I’ve played in here, I’ve only lost three times,” he added.

“So my record is alright and hopefully I can round it off with a couple more wins and end on a high.”
