WIMBLEDON 0, ATHLETIC 0

A much-changed Athletic side gained as last-day point in a low-key affair at Wimbledon.

John Sheridan, who secured safety for this side a week earlier, made seven changes to the line-up and Athletic at times rode their luck at Kingsmeadow.

Lyle Taylor hit the post with a header and Peter Clarke had to make a heroic clearance off the line in the first half, with the only attack of note in the opening period producing a shot for Tope Obadeyi from a tight angle that James Shea tipped over.

Athletic improved after the interval and Ryan Flynn and Michael Ngoo both his efforts narrowly wide.

Ex-Athletic forward Dominic Poleon was denied a goal by an outstretched leg of Connor Ripley and Flynn found the ball stuck under his feet when presented with a one-on-one chance and was unable to produce a clean effort.

Ripley saved well from a Taylor free-kick and Josh Law flashed an effort narrowly over in the latter stages, as Athletic finished the season in 17th place in Sky Bet League One.
