Match views . . . Millwall

ATHLETIC manager John Sheridan felt his side almost let the game slip from their grasp after what was mainly a very good performance against Millwall:

"It's probably the best we have played, yet we come away feeling lucky to get a point with the two penalty saves.

"I let the players know I was really angry with the last 15 minutes, as we allowed them to get into the game.

"For the other 75 minutes, we were excellent up against a team really in form and unbeaten for a long time. We were the better side and the players did everything I wanted from them.

"We played some good stuff on a tricky pitch. I would not say we had great chances, but I always felt that we were a threat going forward, without working their goalkeeper too much.

"At the end it was players not doing the basics, switching off and giving the ball away cheaply. It enabled them to get momentum in the final 15 minutes.

"Connor has come up trumps and he's the hero for making two saves - but it shouldn't have got to that.

"We should have seen the game off far better. It is about players seeing pictures on the pitch and having that game know-how.

'IN-FORM TEAM'

"Unfortunately, we didn't have that and it's probably been a problem all season.

"I don't want to take the first 75 minutes away from the players, though. We were excellent and against an in-form team as well.

"Both sets of players did well on the pitch. It is not as bad as everyone makes out. We passed it when we had to pass it.

"It was a team effort. Let Connor take the plaudits, but it was a really good team performance."

MILLWALL boss Neil Harris was in no mood to pile the blame for his team's failure to win on the shoulders of Lee Gregory, who twice had penalties saved:

"Lee is a confident young man and he was brave enough to take the second penalty after his first one had been saved.

"He is dejected at the moment, but if you are brave enough to put yourself forward you are brave enough to miss.

"We have great spirit in our group, which you could see when all the players went over to Lee after he missed the second time.

"We will pick him up from this disappointment and he will win games for us in the future.

"The positives are another clean sheet and another game without defeat. We are still in a fantastic position in the division."
