SHREWSBURY have added another attacking weapon to their armoury as they bid to keep Athletic at arm's length in the battle to avoid the drop.
Manager Paul Hurst has moved to sign 18-year-old Tyler Roberts on loan from West Brom. It is the club's fourth new arrival this month, with the player having already turned out for Oxford in Sky Bet League One this season.
And the teenage forward, who scored twice for the U's in 22 appearances, could get his chance to feature alongside a loan man well-known to Athletic.
RECORD
Freddie Ladapo left SportsDirect.com Park earlier this month with a record of three goals in 22 appearances.
But it didn't take the on-loan Crystal Palace player long to get on the score sheet for his new club, tapping home from close range to embellish a very promising home debut in helping the club see off Bradford 1-0.
Shrewsbury's top scorers so far this season are Louis Dodds and Ivan Toney - the latter now plying his trade at Scunthorpe while on loan from Newcastle - with seven apiece.
Hurst now hopes that Roberts can add to the club's goals tally.
"He's a forward player that's got very good ability," Hurst told the Shropshire Star.
"He can score goals which is something he's done in his youth team days and hopefully he can add that to our squad."
"We watched him a few times this season and Chris Doig has seen him as well, we were impressed.
"He's been on loan at Oxford so he knows exactly what the league's about. He obviously impressed when we watched him.
"He's a young player that I think's got a big future ahead of him, but thanks to West Brom for letting him come out and hopefully we can help him develop his game and gain that experience to help his career."
Hurst, who left Grimsby to take over in the hot-seat after Micky Mellon left the Shrews in order to take over at Tranmere, has also brought in fresh faces in Alex Rodman and Toto Nsiala.
Rodman is a winger John Sheridan knows all about, having played under him at Newport and Notts County, while former Everton academy prospect Nsiala, a centre-back, joined the club from Hartlepool United.
The duo both played in the win over Bradford, which was the Shrews' first victory in five outings.
