ATHLETIC midfielder Francois Antoine looks to play a pass.
FIRST-HALF goals from Ronaldo Brown and Brad Kay helped Athletic to get past Bury 2-0 and move into the second round of the FA Youth Cup.
Despite being without three key players in Dylan King, Brendan Glackin and Ryan Leonard, Tony Philliskirk's side deservedly made it through at SportsDirect.com Park.
Brown opened the scoring when converting a far-post cross from Tom Hamer in the 28th minute.
Five minutes later, Kay was fouled in the penalty area and dusted himself down to convert the resulting spot-kick.
Rory Middleton and Chinedu Uche went close to a third and though the Shakers had plenty of the ball in the second half, the hosts stood firm to take their place in a round two tie later this month.
Athletic: O'Neill, Hamer, Fallon, Lent, Arthur, Middleton, Antoine, Uche, Whalley (Norman 70), Kay, Brown. Subs not used: Sheridan, Boyling, Norris, Scholes.
