Details:
Saddleworth Peace Group will be holding its annual vigil to mark Holocaust Memorial Day on Saturday 27 January 2018.
The event will start in Uppermill Square at 2.00pm and will continue in the Methodist Church coffee lounge with readings and light refreshments. The event is free and open to all.
The theme this year is the power of words and their capacity to make a difference, both for good and for evil.
The Holocaust Memorial Day vigil is an opportunity for people across Saddleworth to come together to reflect and remember in an event that never fails to move those who come along.
We are delighted that the Mayor of Oldham will be in attendance and hope that as many people as possible will join us.
Holocaust Memorial Day remembers the systematic killing of six million Jews and the persecution and killing of hundreds of thousands of others by the Nazi regime. It also remembers subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur, and challenges hatred and persecution in the UK and in the world today.
