Oldham Mountain Rescue Team

An Overview

Oldham Mountain Rescue Team was formed in 1964 and is just one of around 53 teams of volunteers providing a search and rescue service prepared to help people in difficulties in the wild and remote places of the UK.

We are based in Saddleworth and meet regularly on Tuesday evenings through out the year.

Our web site will give you more information on how to contact us.

Prospective new members are always welcome and we suggest you pay us a visit to discuss what mountain rescue in this area is all about.

We usually suggest spending a little time with us on an informal basis so that you can get a good feel for what is involved. Safety is a major issue.

The work undertaken by the team is often potentially hazardous and, whilst we have an excellent safety record the identification of potential risks and looking at how we might manage them is an important part of our management groups responsibility.

The team has a documented safety policy that is available to all team members.

The team is a Registered Charity No. 1088825 and a company limited by guarantee No 01478168.
