Sharing experiences
OSCA, formed as a charity in January, 1997, is a local support group for parents and carers of children and adults with autism and related disorders.
It was originally started in 1994 by a clinical psychologist based at the Woodfield Centre, Oldham, to enable parents to discuss and share experiences related to living with a person with these unique and distressing conditions.
We run monthly meetings for mutual support and for exchanging ideas. We also hold regular committee meetings, and we occasionally invite speakers to the meetings to give members a chance to discuss specific topics.
We also meet regularly for family activities. We meet once a month on Monday afternoons from 12.30pm to share ideas and support each other.
Examples of activities include exclusive sessions at Glodwick swimming pool and at Bouncers soft play centre, as well as coach trips to to Flamingoland, Knowsley Safari Park, Cadbury World and Gulliver's World.
