Brian Cox: welcomes BBC plans
Oldham TV presenter and physicist Brian Cox has voiced his support for the BBC after director general Lord Hall outlined his plans for the future of the organisation.
Professor Cox joined Nobel prize-winner Malala Yousafzai and World Wide Web inventor Sir Tim Berners-Lee to give his opinion about the broadcaster in a special video.
Lord Hall said there are difficult choices ahead for the BBC, but among other proposals is the introduction of an “ideas service” as a core part of the vision for an “open BBC”.
Mr Cox described the ideas service as part of a “new age of wonder”.
“It’s the largest public engagement ever attempted,” he said. “Important scientific and cultural organisations in Britain will come together to make the BBC better.”
