Toy shop trolley dash child’s play for sisters

Sisters bagged toys worth nearly £400 for seriously-ill children in a trolley dash at an Oldham toy shop.

Alisha-Paige and Carmen-Amy Harrison had a minute each to grab as many items as possible for the Rainbow Trust, which supports families who have a life-threatening or terminal illness.

They were cheered on by little sister Takoda-Tracey Wright — who was born with serious health problems — at the Entertainer store, which opened recently in the Spindles Shopping Centre.

The six-year-old pupil at St Margaret’s Primary School, Hollinwood, was dwarfed by the huge carrier bags of toys worth £379.71 collected by Alisha-Paige (13) and Carmen Amy (12) who both attend Oasis Academy, Oldham.

They will be distributed to families in Oldham by the charity mum Jayne Wright described as a “life-saver”.

Matthew Clarke, regional fund-raising manager at Rainbow Trust, said: “We are delighted to have benefited from such a generous donation. It will mean a great deal to the families we support.”
