A man was knocked down and left for dead at this roundabout at the junction of Roman Road and Ashton Road East
A HIT and run driver left a 52-year-old man for dead on a mini roundabout in Failsworth.
The man suffered life-threatening head injuries when thrown through the air at the junction of Roman Road and Ashton Road East. He was hit by a Ford Fiesta as he crossed the road after leaving an off-licence at around 7pm on Friday.
The driverinitially slowed before speeding off, leaving his injured victim in the road.
The man was taken to Salford Royal Hospital with serious head injuries but has improved following emergency surgery.
The Ford Fiesta was found abandoned in Parkfield Lane, Middleton.
Sgt Mark Thomas appealed for help to trace the driver: “To leave a man lying, seriously injured, in the middle of the road having knocked him down is a despicable act. They could have been leaving him to die. We need anyone who may have been on Ashton Road East at the time of the collision to speak to us about what they might have seen.”
