Team’s terrific day for ‘Princess Tehyah’

People have rallied round a brave five-year-old fighting for her life by supporting an entertainment-packed charity event.

Princess Tehyah’s Summer Spectacular at Shaw Cricket Club raised money for Tehyah Solan-Clarke, who a year ago suffered a series of strokes that have left her 90 per cent brain damaged.

Local student nurse Heidi Shields — who was so touched by Tehyah’s story she does all she can to help — organised the event, with proceeds for the Royton youngster’s family.

Tehyah was struck by a mystery illness in April, 2014, which caused the happy-go-lucky youngster to suffer seven strokes, before she was put into an induced coma after suffering serious brain damage.

After coming out of the coma and enduring several brain operations, the child was sent home in June last year to spend what little time doctors believed she had left with parents Sam Solan and Aaron Clarke.

But 18 months on, Tehyah is still fighting strongly, feeding by tube and receiving oxygen from a machine. Regular events are held to raise money for Tehyah’s family, who look after her at home.
