Stabbed youth found lying in street
Date published: 17 August 2015
A 19 year old was found with serious stab wounds in Ashton Road in the early hours of Saturday.
Tommy Bilton (19), of Elm Road, Limeside, was found by police with a 23-year-old man who also had stab wounds.
Tommy was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital but died on Saturday afternoon. The surviving man is stable and improving in Salford Royal Hospital.
A group of his friends gathered at Limeside Park yesterday to pay their respects. Heartfelt messages and flowers were left for him at the scene.
A resident from Eldon Street estate said: “It’s such a waste. He was only 19; it was his birthday. There have been fights on the estate lately. It’s such a waste of life — all over a disagreement. That’s what I’ve heard anyway.”
Officers initially arrested two 19 year olds, two 20 year olds and a 21-year-old man on suspicion of assault, but they were released on bail without charge.
