A TEENAGER has pleaded guilty to a string of offences against the ambulance service.

The 16 year old from Werneth, who can’t be named, pleaded guilty to six offences before Oldham magistrates on Friday. The matters related to the theft of eight sets of car keys and a rapid response vehicle from Crofton Street ambulance depot on August 10. The car was later found abandoned but undamaged at the junction of Windsor Road and Bright Street.

The 16 year old also pleaded guilty to taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving without insurance and without a licence, as well as a count of vagrancy in Tommyfield Market on August 7.

The youth was already subject to an existing court order for breaking into Crompton ambulance station and stealing a defibrillator and a uniform in February.

The police were contacted when the boy’s mother found the uniform in his room. When arrested, he admitted everything and claimed he did it because he needed the money.

He was bailed until June 5 but broke into the station again with a friend on June 1, who also cannot be named for legal reasons.

The pair drove off in a car owned by a member of staff, which they crashed into a parked Jaguar in Stalybridge.

The boy will appear in court on September 4 for sentencing.
