Kailash Chand: awards shortlist
A FORMER Oldham doctors’ leader is celebrating being shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Dr Kailash Chand OBE, deputy chair of the BMA and a GP of over 30 years, is in the running for the Medical Professional award at the annual Asian Professional Awards..
The awards celebrate “inspirational individuals” from the Asian community who contribute in a variety of sectors, with almost 4,000 nominations and votes received this year.
Dr Chand, chairman of Tameside Healthwatch, said: “It is a moment of pride for me to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award. I have continued to campaign on the future of the NHS, as well as championing on behalf of the patients.”
The award ceremony takes place in London on October 9.
