Jerry Hall: Oldham roots, but missed out on the accent...
THE new series of BBC ancestry show Who Do You Think You Are reveals that American supermodel Jerry Hall has roots in... Derker.
The show, which returns to TV next week, shows the Texas-born model and actress (58) — former wife of Mick Jagger, himself with Saddleworth roots — visiting Waverley Street in Derker.
The revelation makes Hall and Jagger the town’s most famous couple. The Rolling Stones frontman’s father, Joe, lived in Greenfield. He died in 2006
Hall, who has four children with Jagger, worked with researchers and discovered her father’s side of the family ended up in Texas after emigrating from Oldham.
Hall also discovered she is connected to US pioneer and explorer Daniel Boone.
Born and raised in Texas, she was inspired to find out more about her family history after the death of her mother Marjorie in 2013. Her investigations uncovered her ancestors’ pioneering roots as they blazed a trail west across America. Hall also found how her father’s side ended up in Texas.
Great British Bake Off star Paul Hollywood, actors Derek Jacobi and Mark Gatiss and actresses Anne Reid, Frances de la Tour and Jane Seymour also feature in the new series, from August 13.
