The recovered van was burned out by vandals
A VAN which was stolen and ransacked by yobs was found by its owner — only for it to be set on fire later the same night.
Firefighters from Chadderton were called to tackle the blazing white Peugeot van in Bridge Street, Shaw on Saturday night. The van had been stolen earlier that night.
The theft was reported to police who later told the owners to secure it - which they did. But the van was later set alight
The owner, who didn’t want to be named, said: “We went back half an hour later to check on it and this is what we saw. Gutted. I hope they catch these sad individuals. Luckily no one was hurt and no other cars were damaged.”
Police are investigating the incident. Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
