Woman found roaming streets

A REVIEW has been launched after a vulnerable woman was found wandering the streets in the rain and had to be returned to her sheltered housing by a passer-by.
Shaun Nuttall reported the incident after finding the woman, who has learning difficulties, in a confused state. Mr Nuttall returned the woman, in her 40s, to accommodation provided by Imagine, Act and Succeed Oldham, a charity offering support to people with learning disabilities, mental health issues, and the elderly.
He reported the incident to the charity and Oldham Council after being concerned about her welfare.
“I think it is disgusting that vulnerable people are being put at risk like this. She was wandering the street, looking into people’s houses in the pouring rain with no coat. She looked very confused.”
He walked her back but was concerned there were no staff on duty to look after residents.
Mr Nuttall added: “I don’t think it is fair these vulnerable people are left without anyone to help them.
“As a father of two children with disabilities, I know how vital it is for them to have support.”
Oldham Council confirmed they had spoken with the providers and would review the situation following the incident.
