FACING questions . . . council leader Jim McMahon talks about his vision for Oldham
OLDHAM Council leader Jim McMahon has faced some tough questions on the town’s future — from young members of the Mahdlo Youth Zone.
Councillor McMahon took part in a question and answer session at the Egerton Street centre about the changes to the town centre and his role on the council.
The members, aged eight to 14, grilled him about the new cinema and restaurants and offered ideas about how to improve Oldham for everyone.
Councillor McMahon said: “It is good to speak to Oldham’s young people as a lot of the issues that affect adults also affect them. They asked some great questions about the future of the town and came up with some interesting ideas about how we could make improvements.
The event was part of Mahdlo’s “Get Connected” scheme, which will see some of Oldham’s well known or influential residents visit the centre to speak with Mahdlo members.
