UNIVERSITY Technical Colleges (UTCs) are producing career-confident teenagers, according to a new poll.
A total of 850 14-18 year-olds from UTCs across England, including Oldham’s The GM, took part in the survey, which revealed 87 per cent of students felt confident in their ability to succeed at work, with 86 per cent confident of getting a job. Around 70 per cent felt their prospects were better than if they stayed in an ordinary school.
Lord Baker, chairman of Baker Dearing Educational Trust, the charity behind UTCs, said: “These findings confirm students who attend UTCs are gaining an education that gives them greater confidence in finding a job, one that suits their skills and pays well.”
The GM, which specialises in sustainable engineering, opened in Oldham in September 2014.
