A MAN had a lucky escape after his car flipped on to its roof in a crash in Oldham town centre.
Two other people including a 15-year-old girl, were injured in the crash in St Mary’s Way on Friday evening. A red Fiat Punto rolled on to its roof in the collision.
The man was freed by firefighters before he and the girl were taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital for treatment. Both had only minor injuries.
Student nurse Stephanie Wragg was first to arrive on the scene and helped the injured while waiting for the ambulances to arrive.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called to a road traffic accident at 7.09pm to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a Mercedes and a Fiat Punto.
“A male driver was trapped in his vehicle and members of the fire service extracted him from the car. There does not appear to be any serious injuries.”
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews had attended the scene.
Freed
A spokeswoman said: “We were called to reports of a car on its roof close to the taxi rank and a person trapped inside.
“When we arrived, one man had already been freed by the ambulance service and had been taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital.
A 15-year-old girl was also given trauma care at the scene.”
