TAMESIDE Council chiefs have been left red-faced after a huge pile of rubbish - including signs saying “fly-tipped on council land” - was dumped in Oldham.
Bin bags full of festering waste had lain in a Limeside car park for more than two weeks. When resident Ian Nixson (49) went in for a closer look he was astonished to find the signs - along with Tameside Council documents and high-visibility clothing carrying the local authority’s logo.
The rubbish also contained printed emails from Tameside Council staff and even a job rota for their community payback team - which, ironically, includes litter picking.
Tameside council workers have cleared the area, off Limeside Road, after being informed by the Chronicle.
Mr Nixson said: “I’m angry to see such mess dumped on my doorstep anyway, but to find waste in Oldham from another council is outrageous. People should not have to walk through this mess.”
A Tameside Council spokesman said the vehicle was stolen weeks ago and that they would be working closely with colleagues at Oldham Council and Greater Manchester Police to catch those responsible.
