Raid leaves nasty taste

A STUNNED businesswoman has been left heartbroken after thieves broke into a fledgling sandwich shop named after her deceased husband.
Ann Barton (49) opened Roy’s Rolls in Huddersfield Road on July 1 in memory of her late husband, who died of cancer last September. Thieves broke into the newly-opened shop - also run by Ann’s sister Jenny Milner and daughter-in-law Lindsey Barton - in the early hours by climbing on the roof at the back and cutting a hole.
Two Smartphones containing pictures of Roy with his grandchildren were stoken, as well as a TV and cafe food and cash.
Ann said: “We’ve only been open for three weeks and we were just building things up, now we’re shut again.
“I was gutted, I didn’t know whether to be mad or cry. They took the TV off the wall but left the drill behind. They even took a jar of lollipops we give to children.
“Roy always wanted me to have my own business. Luckily, the family is rallying round, but we’ve all put our money into getting this off the ground. We thought we were quite secure - we never thought anyone would come through the roof.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
