First Choice move

AMBITIOUS plans to revitalise a key town-centre development site will be debated by Cabinet members on Monday.
First Choice Homes, which manages the council’s housing stock, wants to move its depot into the Meridian Business Centre complex near the King Street roundabout.
It is hoped the move will safeguard jobs and act as a catalyst to attract further development on the site.
It will also allow the FCHO depot to move from its current base, in Copsterhill Road, closer to its new headquarters in Union Street.
Flourish
Council leader Jim McMahon said: “Oldham is undergoing significant change with many regeneration projects currently taking place like the old town hall and Prince’ s Gate developments. We’re creating a borough where businesses can invest and flourish.
“The Meridian Business Centre site is one of many sites in and around the town centre that offers exceptional retail and commercial opportunities — as well as being well connected to our public transport links.”
