Couple’s perfect match at Latics

IT’S every Latics fan’s dream . . . celebrating your wedding day with the hallowed Boundary Park turf in sight.

Janet Leigh and Christopher Mayhew, from High Crompton, are the first couple to book their wedding reception at the stadium’s Oldham Events Centre. Their big day will take place on July 2, 2016.

The lovebirds aren’t massive Latics fans, but Chris’s aunt and uncle — lifelong season ticket holders Geoff and Carole Coleman — persuaded them to have a look around the new venue, which is in the new North Stand development.

Impressed

Janet (48) said: “We go to a few games here and there but we aren’t massive fans.

“When Geoff and Carole suggested it, we went to have a look around and we were very impressed.

“It isn’t finished yet but we have seen pictures and it looks lovely. They’ve invited us back for a proper look as soon as its ready.

“Our ceremony will take place at Chadderton Town Hall and then we’ll come here for the meal and the night do. There’ll be plenty of Latics fans at our wedding and I’m sure they’ll spend more time gawping at the pitch while the meal and speeches are going on.

“I’m pleased that we are the first couple to book our wedding here. It’ll create a real talking point on the day.”

Janet, a commercial cleaner, and Chris (38), a mechanic at AC Tyres, will honeymoon in Zante.
