THE Royal Oldham Hospital’s radio station has unveiled its new studio
The Mayor, Councillor Fida Hussain, performed the opening ceremony at Radio Cavell, the start of a drive to modernise the station and attract new volunteers.
Cavell chairman Kent Wells, said: “The studio represents a major step forward and is the result of considerable fundraising. We need to keep pace with changing technology to better provide for the patients.
“We hope to have our second updated studio on air by August. At that point we will have a state of the art broadcasting facility and be able to make even better programmes.”
Radio Cavell provides request shows, news, sport, specialised music programmes, interviews and magazine shows, as well as regular health-related information in conjunction with the Pennine Acute Trust. Every bed in the hospital can receive the station, which can also be picked up in the hospital grounds on 1350AM.
