Rainy City Roller Girls: back after US tour
THE Rainy City Roller Girls have returned to Oldham after a successful tour of America.
The girls came up against five strong teams from the home of roller derby, visiting New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont.
Rainy City won three of their five games and came close against the B Team of the world’s top roller derby club, Gotham Girls Roller Derby, scoring 164 to Gotham’s 217.
Captain Vivien “Leigh-thal” said: “We had such an amazing time and it was a great experience.
“We received a massive warm welcome from all of the skaters we met and all of our hard work as a team paid off. We’re excited to get back to training just so we can do it all over again next year.”
The next home game at the The Thunderdome, on King Street, is on Saturday, May 16, against Croydon Vice Squad.
Tickets are £4 in advance from www.rcrg.co.uk and under-14s get in free.
