GRAB your running shoes, fund-raising T-shirt and brightly-coloured... cornflour!

Dr Kershaw’s is set to hold Oldham’s first Colour Blast fun run. The hospice has joined Revolution 96.2 Radio to hold the colourful event, which will have hundreds of runners covered in reds, blues, greens, yellows and oranges to dash around Alexandra Park on September 27.

“Coronation Street” star Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead Tinker, has signed up as the face of the Colour Blast and will be helping to promote the event.

Angela Higham, the hospice fundraiser, said: “We are thrilled Revolution is working with us on this event. Other charities have raised tens of thousands of pounds by holding these runs, in which runners are doused in brightly-coloured, non-toxic cornflour.

“We hope to raise lots of money and awareness of the hospice and the vital work we do while having lots of fun.”

She added that the hospice is expecting to have over 1,000 runners for the 3km event.

Matt Ramsbottom, owner of Revolution 96.2, said: “This is exactly the kind of event our listeners will love and we’re delighted to be helping such a great cause.”

Other local businesses have already signed up as sponsors.

Sign up is available online at www.revolution962.com, with tickets from £8.
