A SADDLEWORTH law student has been crowned a national mooting champion at London’s Supreme Court.
Holly Saunders (20), from Diggle, won the United Kingdom Law Students’ Association National Mooting Competition as one of a duo from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Mooting involves presenting a legal issue against opposing counsel in front of a judge in a mock courtroom.
The win continues a tradition of MMU Manchester Law School teams winning national mooting and advocacy competitions.
The final was held at the Supreme Court against a strong team from the University of Exeter, but Holly and her co-counsel Lucy Holden won the verdict.
Third year LLB student Holly is working towards qualification as a barrister, and plans to work for the Law Commission.
She said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my law degree. I have learned many legal skills, grown intellectually through all of the activities and have made wonderful friends.”
