STAFF at Hathershaw College are on their marks for a special diamond jubilee 10k challenge.
Sixty of them will take part in the Great Manchester Run on Sunday as part of the school’s 60th anniversary celebrations. They will wear T-shirts with a special logo designed by pupil Aqsa Waheed and include head teacher Dave McEntee.
Chairman of governors Councillor Ateeque Ur-Rehman will also be lacing up his trainers and taking part. He will become next Mayor of Oldham on May 20, and the team will raise money for his mayoral charities.
Assistant principal Lorna Philip said: “All the younger members of staff are keen to beat senior vice principal Mark Giles, as he’s quite a good runner. I’m just aiming to finish!”
Hathershaw is one of more than 100 teams in the Business Challenge, a race within the 10k for firms and organisations.
