YOUNG Oldhamers took centre stage at the annual Mahdlo Stars award ceremony as a crowd of family members, Mahdlo staff, patrons and supporters celebrated their achievements.
The awards mark the successes and achievements of members of the Egerton Street Youth Zone.
Nominees are put forward for an award, which celebrate accomplishments in a range of areas such as sports, arts and personal development, by the youth zone staff.
This year’s awards also celebrated the success of the new Mahdlo Mentoring programme, which pairs young people with a mentor who can provide support and guidance in dealing with any issues the young person might be facing.
As a charity, Mahdlo also relies on the support of local businesses, organisation and individuals, with this invaluable support acknowledged by the “Volunteer of the Year” and “Working in Partnership” awards.
Mahdlo’s chief executive Helen Taylor said: “It has been an incredible year – we have brought together young people of all abilities from across the communities of Oldham.
“These awards are a wonderful way to recognise the achievements of our fantastic members!”
