BURGLARIES in which raiders break into houses to steal vehicle keys are on the rise.
The latest incident was in Rimmons Close, Greenfield on Wednesday afternoon, when two men broke in and stole keys to a car parked on the drive, but were unable to steal the vehicle.
Trading Standards and Licensing manager John Garforth will attend Saddleworth Homewatch’s next meeting on Wednesday, September 16, at 7.45pm at Uppermill Conservative Club. His talk will include the control of opening hours, crime prevention, public safety, public nuisance and child protection.
ANYONE aged 50 or over is invited to join Age UK for a scenic stroll every Tuesday afternoon from 2pm. The dementia-friendly strolls will take place in Uppermill with the group meeting at the side of Warburton Court, just off Uppermill High Street, and take a short route finishing back at Warburton Court.
SADDLEWORTH Civic Trust has an illustrated presentation by David Cockman on September 3.
The author and historian will deliver his “Romans on the Pennines — Slack and Castleshaw” at Sacred Heart Catholic Hall, Uppermill from 7.30pm.
ST MARY’S Church, Greenfield are holding their Ladies Luncheon Club on September 3 at Tame Valley Tennis Club from 11.30am.
DIGGLE Diamonds holds its coffee morning tomorrow. There will also be a cake stall at the event at The Hanging Gate pub, Diggle from 10.30am-noon.
PARKINSON’S UK Oldham Branch is holding a coffee morning on Wednesday to raise funds. The event will be held at Uppermill Methodist Church from 10 until noon.
