LOVE Lydgate’s monthly talk on Monday focuses on making energy from Saddleworth’s rain.

Tony Bywater and Alison Brittle will provide illustrated detail on the conception of the Saddleworth Hydro Scheme at Lydgate Parish Hall from 2pm.


RESIDENTS are invited to the popular annual plant sale at Saddleworth Museum and Art Gallery on Sunday, May 31. Taking place from 11am-3.30pm there will be an array of plants to choose from as well as refreshments.


ON the first Monday of every month Saddleworth Gardening Club holds a winter garden talk. Taking place at Uppermill Civic Hall from 1.30-3.30pm amateurs and new members are welcome.


THE chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council, Councillor Enid Firth, is looking to honour a person or couple who donate time and effort to charity work at a dinner at Greenfield Conservative Club on Friday, May 15. To nominate someone, call 01457-876 665.


THE Dobcross Whit Friday Committee are seeking volunteers to help during this year’s celebrations. Join in the morning walks, children’s lunch, afternoon sports and evening brass band contest. To volunteer call Pam on 01457-875 799.


THE Friends of Saddleworth Museum are holding an afternoon tea combined with a demonstration of planting up hanging baskets and patio pots and a floral display. The fund-raiser is on Sunday, May 17, starting at 2.30pm — admission is £8.50.


DOBCROSS Silver Band presents the famous Jager Maestros Oompah Band on Friday, May 15, at Dobcross Band Club. Taking place from 8pm tickets cost £8 from 01457-873 741 with proceeds going to the band’s Menin Gate Fund.


ST ANNE’S Church, Lydgate, is holding a flea market at the civic hall, Uppermill, on Sunday, June 28, from 10am-3pm. Entry is 50p, to book a stall contact Kath on 0161-624 1905.
