A CARE service that helps patients to avoid a stay in hospital has been described as a “godsend” - and nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.
The Butler Green IV Therapy Team provides a specialist service to help patients who need intravenous medication to be treated at the facility in Chadderton, or at home.
Since it began, the service has treated around 750 patients, who would otherwise have had to visit hospital.
Patients have praised the service for its care. The team was hailed for providing “first-class service” and doing a “marvellous job”.
Another patient added: “I saw my GP at 11am and was referred to the IV service. I was given an appointment time for that afternoon. The nurses arrived promptly, gave a skilled assessment and treatment. We are so very grateful for this excellent service.”
Vicki Elcock, manager of the Butler Green facility, said: “To receive a nomination is fantastic — we’re over the moon to hear our patients are happy with the service. Quite often, IV therapy can only be delivered in a hospital, but our service is all about helping to keep people in the comfort of their own home.”
