GOING above and beyond . . . PCSO Joanna Haigh
A PCSO who has gained public trust and is renowned for going the extra mile in her job has been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.
Joanna Haigh, whose area covers Derker, Watersheddings, Sholver and Moorside, was nominated by Councillor Angela Cosgrove.
Councillor Cosgrove said Joanna was a deserving candidate for her “tireless” work in the area: “She is known and trusted by all the community, young and old,” said Councillor Cosgrove.
“She is regularly out in the community, actively getting involved, engaging young people at youth sessions and working with all the agencies in the area.
“She comes along to all the community activities and events and sometimes she’s just around for residents to talk to for reassurance - a visible presence.
“She goes above and beyond what is expected as a PCSO, and this is why she is respected by all in St James ward.”
Joanna has been a PCSO for almost nine years and says she loves the job: “It can be difficult but I find it enjoyable, which is why I’m glad to be appreciated in this way. It’s an honour to be nominated.
