ELEVEN handicapper Nick Littlewood produced a stunning round of one-over par 69 to fire a nett 58 and win Werneth’s Fairway Cup by six shots.
His round of two birdies (third and seventh), only three bogeys (14th, 15th and 17th) and the rest pars saw him blow away the 32-strong field for the major trophy.
Scratch golfer Lee Rowbotham was closest of the other finalists with a three-under-par 65.
Incredibly, Nick’s superb score was matched in the subsidiary medal round by Gary Seville, who included five birdies in his gross 69.
THE Oldham and District Rabbits League cup final reached a dramatic conclusion at Dukinfield.
It went into extra holes after Houldsworth and Oldham tied 5-5. One player was nominated from each team to play the sudden death play-off and Houldsworth’s Neil Bradburn held his nerve to secure victory. The win completed a league and cup double for Houldsworth.
Final league placings were: 1, Houldsworth 46; 2, Dukinfield 45; 3, Ashton 43; 4, Stamford 43; 5, Brookdale 39; 6, Oldham 24.
