MOSSLEY begin another FA Cup adventure tomorrow and joint-boss Peter Band is hoping his side can start a decent run - for a change.

The Lilywhites don’t boast much of a cup tradition in recent years, but are at home to Evo-Stik League rivals Bamber Bridge in the preliminary round tomorrow and confidence is high.

Band said: “Bamber Bridge haven’t had a great start to the season so we need to try to capitalise on that at our place. They’re still a good side, but it would be nice for us to maybe go on a bit of cup run largely because of the prize money it can generate.”

It’s been an encouraging start to the Division One North campaign for Mossley. They have won two and drawn two of their four matches so far and only conceded their first goal on Tuesday.

“I reckon we’ve played the best three teams in the division in our last three games – Witton, Clitheroe and Trafford,” added Band. “We’ve played well against them all and really ought to have been sat on 12 points from our four games in my opinion.

“Considering we’ve been missing one or two players through niggling injuries, the lads who have come in have been brilliant.”

The Lilywhites return to league action on Bank Holiday Monday when they host Tameside rivals Droylsden (3pm kick-off).

CHADDERTON will be confident of finally getting off the mark in the North-West Counties League First Division tomorrow. Following three draws and a defeat in their opening four matches, Chaddy host Daisy Hill tomorrow.
