ANGLING: MARTIN Taylor can do no wrong at the moment.

The latest success for the Matrix Halifax rod came in the Medlock Bridge AC open on the Park Lake.

Using the pole and caster, he caught chub, perch and skimmers to 1lb 8oz for a match-winning 11lb 2oz.

Pete Cuniffe was second with hemp and caster tempting 8lb 3oz of f1s, roach, skimmers and perch.

The weights were much-improved for the Monday evening Medlock Bridge AC match on the Park Lake.

The winner, Conrad Taylor, landed some decent skimmers and a 3lb tench on pole-fished pellet for 17lb 2oz. Cuniffe had to settle for second-best once again, with hemp and caster on the pole accounting for 16lb 5oz of f1s, roach and skimmers. But he also lost two fish which cost him the win.

MICK Diskin took first place in the latest of the Twingates OAPs matches on the club water. He weighed in a 16lb 12oz catch, which included four carp, ide and skimmers. Peter Hill had 11lb 4oz of ide and skimmers.

DANNY Keenan topped the latest of the Todmorden AS Sunday matches with a 61lb 4oz net of carp falling to pellet and waggler tactics. Chris Lett was second with 52lb 7oz of carp on pole and caster..

A pole and meat combination worked wonders for Pete Fitton, who claimed first place in the Todmorden AS Tuesday match with a 38lb 8oz bag of carp. Runner-up Mick Clegg had a paste-taken 37lb 11oz of carp.

TRI-CAST Highfield rod Dave Holland won the Trent and Mersey Canal open. Opting for squatt over groundbait, he landed plenty of small roach and gudgeon for an 8lb 2oz bag. Travelling partner and team-mate James Cantello boasted more than 200 tiny gudgeon. He used squatt over groundbait as well for a 7lb 3oz return and second spot.

ANOTHER Halifax Matrix rod, Dave Chadwick, won a cracking Northern AA open match on the Rodeheath length of the Trent and Mersey Canal. It was one of the best nets of big roach I have witnessed in a match.

Drawn on the end peg, he caught steadily throughout the five-hour event. Using caster and hemp across at 11 metres, Chadwick had fish to 12 ounces for a 15lb net. Ged Martin (Tri-Cast Highfield) started on squatt, but soon switched to caster across to catch some big roach and weigh in 13lb 2oz.

I was drawn a peg right below a lock, where I had to endure five hours of barges constantly pulling into my peg. I still managed 5lb of big roach, though.

ORGANISER Dave Machin was the easy winner of the latest of the Diggle AC Tuesday evening match on Tanners Dam. Using the pole and meat approach, he caught three small carp and some skimmers for 14lb 7oz. Dave Chadwick (Matrix Halifax) was second with 9lb 12oz of silvers taken on maggot and caster fished short.
