FOOTBALL:
DESPITE taking the lead, Chadderton were beaten 3-1 at home to St Helens Town on the opening day of the North-West Counties League season.
Macauley Harewood put the Andrew Street side in front after 25 minutes, only for Jack Marshall to equalise just after the half-hour mark.
Chadderton appeared set for a share of the spoils, but late goals from Alex Russell (88) and Jordan Lord (90) sealed victory for St Helens.
