ANGLING: GEOFF Dawson was in terrific form as he cruised to victory in the Medlock Bridge AC Saturday open match on the Park Lake.
He fished the pole and tip for a 22lb 2oz catch of f1s and bream. Bob Harrison, who concentrated on his pole line, caught 13lb 1oz to take runner-up spot.
Monday’s Medlock Bridge open on the Park Lake saw better backing weights as John Jones topped the event with 18lb 140z of f1s and silvers that fell to the pole. Dawson’s almost identical catch of 15lb 14oz took second.
STALYBRIDGE-based Dave Chadwick (Matrix Halifax) is on an incredible run of form at Tanner’s Dam, where in the latest of the Diggle AC Tuesday evening events he won his fourth match in five turnouts.
Using the short pole and maggot, Chadwick’s superb net was made up of all silver fish and weighed in at 20lb 10oz. Organiser Dave Machin was second with his long pole, meat and pellet tempting 11lb 4oz of carp and skimmers.
MARTIN Taylor (Matrix Halifax), also in outstanding form, was in the latest of the Northern AA open matches on the Boarshaw length of the Rochdale Canal. He crushed the opposition with 31lb 3oz of bream, easily beating second-placed Steve Ballen with his 4lb 11oz catch
ROCHDALE Angling Centre-backed Dennis Shaw was the victor in the latest of the Partridge Fishery OAP and Disabled open matches, with his f1 and ide catch weighing an impressive 131lb 13oz.
Ron Smith had to be content with second spot with his 123lb net of silvers and f1s.
DAVE Ireland took first place in the Twingates AC evening match, with his chopped worm and caster fished on the deck method tempting a level 11lbs of ide and skimmers. Geoff Ogden (Tight Lines) was again in the frame, with his ide and skimmer net taking the scales to 10lb.
That beat the two-carp 8lb 9oz catch of Tony Smith.
Pete Cuniffe is dominating the Twingates AC OAP’s matches as he once again took the winner’s purse with caster fished at nine metres accounting for a massive 21lb 5oz of ide, skimmers and carp.
That more than doubled the weight of the next man, Geoff Carr, as he tipped 10lb 2oz of ide, skimmers and roach into the weighing bag.
