Rangers aiming for Kells victory boost

RUGBY: SADDLEWORTH Rangers will aim to shake off the disappointment of becoming only bottom club Wigan St Jude’s second victims of the season, as they face a tough home game against Kells in Division One of the Kingstone Press National Conference League.
Craig Farrimond’s side lost 40-12 at Parsons Meadow last week. Rangers’ cause wasn’t helped by a spell in the sin-bin for Matt Bottom and a red card for Gavin Dodd, and the Greenfield outfit slumped to a 14th defeat in 16 games.
Farrimond will hope Kells, of Whitehaven, prove to be poor travellers tomorrow when they arrive at Shaw Hall Bank Road. But last week they won 20-6 at Hunslet to remain in the promotion race, two points behind leaders Normanton.
WATERHEAD Warriors will want to keep up the sort of form that has pulled them clear of the bottom two spots in Division Three in recent weeks. Dave Orwell’s side is at home to bottom side Eastmoor Dragons, boosted by last week’s thrill-a-minute 46-44 victory at Wibsey Warriors.
OLDHAM St Anne’s, who were down to play at Millom tomorrow in Division Two, have had their request accepted for the game to be put back due to a lack of player availability. The game will be played on August 8.
