OLDHAM Golf Club is going flat out to attract more entries for its Seniors’ Open.
The hilly Lees New Road course has put off the golden oldies in recent years as it is a big test of stamina even for fit golfers. So the organisers have decided to... flatten things a little.
“Oldham on the Flat” organiser Mike Dunkerley explains: “For the first time at Oldham an 18-hole competition will be played using the bottom, flat, nine holes twice. It means no climbing up hills - so no panoramic views - but it should encourage entries.”
