OLDHAM St Anne’s suffered their worst National Conference League Division Two defeat of the season when thrashed 76-8 at home by Dudley Hill.
In the first half the visitors were in scintillating form against a Saints side weakened by several missing key players. Despite the hosts’ best efforts, Dudley Hill were able to score at will, crossing for 10 tries in the opening half.
Saints were well out of the picture at the break, 58-0 behind. To their credit Saints’ players kept plugging away, with Johnny Kelly doing his best to push his side forward. Soon after the break they were rewarded with a try by Callum Cashin. Alan Williamson also touched down as Saints managed to contain Dudley Hill to four second half tries.
Despite the score there was no doubting the commitment shown by the Saints players, but they were relieved to hear the final whistle. This week they travel to top of the table Millom.
