Medlock boost for experienced Fred

ANGLING: EXPERIENCE paid off for Fred Prudham, who triumphed at the Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Park Lake.
Prudham’s waggler and pole approach, in conjunction with maggot on the hook and feed, tempted 15lb 13oz of silvers and f1s. Pete Cuniffe took the runner-up pot with hemp and caster taking a 3lb tench, some f1s and roach to finish with 13lb 14oz. Section winners were Mick Molloy with 9lb 3oz and Mick Tighe (11lb 15oz).
CARP and skimmers made up the winning 20lb 3oz catch of David Oates in the latest of the Diggle AC Tuesday matches on Tanner’s Dam. Pole and meat was the successful method. The previous week’s winner, Dave Chadwick (Matrix Halifax), had to settle for second place with his short pole, maggot and caster approach attracting decent roach and skimmers to weigh in 12lb 3oz.
PETE Cuniffe is one of the best anglers to come out of Oldham, and has been winning matches for more than 30 years.
He is always in the frame in local clashes, with hemp and caster the combination that usually sees him in the money. So it was no surprise to see him win the latest of the Twingate AC OAP’s match on the club water. Cuniffe netted three carp with some skimmers and ide that weighed 18lb 14oz.
Tony Simcock (Tight Lines, Shaw) is another angler who has won his fair share of matches over the years. But he had to settle for second place with a similar net weighing 15lb 14oz.
SUNDAY’S Todmorden AS members match on Townhouse was a closely-fought affair with less than 10lb separating the top four. Jake Nightingale was the best with his pole and caster finding plenty of silvers and carp to record 52lb 2oz. Second-best was Danny Keenan with pole and pellet taking 46lb of carp.
Meanwhile, Chris Lett kicked off with the pellet waggler and stuck to it throughout his session to win the latest Todmorden AS Tuesday members match on Townhouse.
Lett landed some decent carp that together weighed 42lb 9oz, easing him in front of Rod McKendry’s 36lb 4oz of carp taken on pole and pellet.
