GOLF:
ANN Head won Saddleworth’s Mr Captain’s Trophy which was played over 36 holes in wet conditions.
She had nett scores of 70 and 69 for a total of 139 – eight shots ahead of runner-up Pam Taylor (70+77=147).
First-day prize was won by Barbara Shuttleworth (98-25=73), while second-day honours went to Fiona Hesten (90-18-72).
A three-ball waltz at Saddleworth was won by Denise Brown, Debra Cockburn and Linda Newman (72 points) from Jean Dervan, Jean Lowe and Eileen Waddington (71).
BLACKLEY’S EGM Jean Meehan Trophy was won by 12-handicapper Helen Sloan with 38 Stableford points.
Runner-up was Barbara Roberts, who beat Kathleen Ruddy in a card play-off for the runner-up spot after both scored 37 points.
CROMPTON and Royton’s four-ball, better-ball competition attracted an excellent turn-out.
Winners Carol Kay (Hopwood) and Edith Jones (Rochdale) scored 39 Stableford points. Runners-up were Elaine Bonn (Rochdale) and Noreen Nicholson (Crompton and Royton) with 37 points, while best visitors were Lynn Truelove (Ashton) and Kathy Clinton (Tytherington), who are both former C and R members.
Twos competition winners were Margaret Bailey, Carol Kay and Chris Rimmer.
