RUGBY UNION:
WITH four away games in their first seven fixtures, Oldham Rugby Union Club’s first team face a baptism of fire in the North Lancs and Cumbria Division.
The Manor Park men hit the road to Wigton, Cumbria, for the season’s opener September 9, before heading back up the M6 to face Whitehaven seven days later.
Hawcoat Park provide Oldham’s first home test on September 19. But the players get back in their cars for the 137-mile trip to Silloth on the Cumbrian coast on September 26.
Oldham, promoted after clinching North Lancashire Division One title, follow that with two home matches, against St Benedicts (October 3) and Upper Eden (October 10). They were due to play Upper Eden away on that date, but their opponents agreed to reverse the fixture.
Oldham’s final fixture of the year is at De La Salle on December 19, a week after hosting Ashton-under-Lyne.
The season concludes - unless Oldham are involved in the second-place play-off - with a home clash against Wigton.
Oldham play 26 league games in 2015-16, an increase of half-a-dozen on the previous campaign.
