T20 CRICKET: ADAM Hayes rose to a last-over challenge as Greenfield booked their finals’ day ticket in the Pro Elite Sports Twenty20 Competition.
Requiring 18 runs off the final six balls to overhaul Austerlands’ 175 all out, Hayes hit a six, a four and a six again in successive balls off professional Asif Zakir, before another four, this time byes, waved the hosts over the winning line.
Richard Keaveney’s unbeaten 46 from 27 balls (seven fours and a six) guided Shaw away from danger at South-West Manchester.
Recovering from 14 for four, they won by five wickets after chasing down just 73.
South-West Manchester were nine for four after three overs as Azam Hussain (three for eight) ripped through the top of the order. Drew Fullalove’s figures were also outstanding, two for five from his four-over spell.
Dropped early on, Danny Anchor went on to make 45 not out as Moorside overcame Friarmere by eight wickets at Slack Lane. Anchor also took four for 23 in the hosts' total of 128 for nine.
Pro Imran Aslam, with an unbeaten 61, steered Saddleworth to a six-wicket success at home to Glodwick, who were restricted to 136 for nine in their 20 overs.
